Picture this : Santiago, Chile, 32 degree balmy afternoon, a vast botanical garden filled with sky piercing palm trees, not a breath of wind, 350 excitable guests and a marquee so enormous that there are actually trees inside! Wow, this was one of the most breath-taking weddings that I have had the pleasure to shoot, and what an exotic location.
So what of the happy couple? George and Maria are so young and in love and I was absolutely honoured to share not only their special day, but I was treated to some real 'back stage' moments in preparation.
I accompanied Maria on various 'dress creation' appointments and was on hand to help at a practice session of the 'Gay Gordons' ceilidh performance that George (who is of Scottish descent - hence the kilt!) had requested as the first dance!
The day itself was full of exquisite little touches; colourful Chinese umbrellas to shade the guests during the ceremony, an Alice in wonderland dance floor complete with 800 red roses suspended above the bar, a bagpipe rendition from groom to bride and when the dancing started at 4pm, you knew it was going to be a good night!
Have a look for yourself, it was positively splendid.
