About 50% of my clients are Swiss, the other 50% who employ my services as a wedding photographer are a mixture of International clients and Swiss ex-patriots. Some ex-pats have re-located here and some grew up here, Sarah and Rory fall into the latter category as Sarah was very lucky to spend her younger years here. It was a real delight to be able to photograph her getting ready with her sister in her childhood home in Pragnins.
However, it is clear from the photographs that Rory is from slightly further afield ; he's Scottish (the kilt is a minor give-away). It has been a while since I have had the pleasure to photograph 'men in kilts', although I must admit the Scottish heritage runs deep, the last wedding I shot where the groom was kilted was in South America! (See Maria & George's wedding)
There are a few words that I would use to evoke the atmosphere of Rory and Sarah's day; intimate, hand-crafted and full of smiles. The little touches were so important; flowers hand picked by Sarah's mother from their garden, a brooch worn by Sarah lent to her by her 90 year old Aunt Ruth, an intimate church ceremony, delicious food and some excellent 80's music accompanied by generous quantities of the local Swiss wine. Just delightful.
