This is Switzerland.

Today is Swiss National Day, and I feel so privileged to live and work in such a wonderful country. For those that get married here in Switzerland, they are treated to some truly wonderful delights. Jenni and Daniel are Swedish and German respectively, and like me, they too live here. I was absolutely delighted when they informed me of the plans for their big day. They seemed to incorporate 'the essence of Switzerland' ; Magnificent mountain views, superb wine direct from the vineyard, Alp-Horns, quaint little hill-top villages, a splendid 5* hotel and of course the sunshine!

They chose Lucie of Bliss Events and Weddings to help them plan their special day and she did a superb job ensuring that everything ran smoothly and everyone had fun. There were lots of giggles throughout the day as you can see, some of my favourites being of the couple and guests trying to play the Alp-Horn, it's not as easy as it looks you know!

Fairytale.

At some weddings that I photograph I literally spend the whole day thinking 'wow'..... and this was one of those special days. From the moment that I met Sarah and Magnus I could already feel the magic. Sarah is such a beautiful girly-girl ; gentle, ladylike, thoughtful and I could not wait to see her in the beautiful soft layers of her organza dress. I knew she would look like a fairytale princess, which she absolutely did - as you will see.

But what of the groom ? I know it may sound clichéd but the only way that I can describe Magnus is an absolute gentleman, Sarah's prince charming. He gave the most heart-felt speech at the reception that I have ever heard, so much so that there was honestly not a dry eye in the house (including mine) that is one groom's speech that will stay with me forever.

The couple had spent a long time preparing lots of fun little touches throughout the day; the bride and groom left the church in a classic VW Beetle, and at the aperitif both Swedish and Belgian flags were full mast at the house representing the coming together of the two families. Some of my favourite photos I shot during the day were those of the bridesmaids having fun with the Helium whilst filling the balloons for the midnight balloon release, they were having a good old giggle! Sarah and Magnus had both also asked that I take one of my 'signature photos' of the bridal party jumping in the air for joy, these shots always make me smile!

Congratulations once again you two, I wish you both a very long and happy life together.
